Project Summary

Our lab created and installed all of the original content for an immersive fine dining experience inside of the luxury Dubai hotel in the World Trade Center. This project titled “How Life Began” retraced the evolution of man through the elements fire, earth, water, air, and emptiness.

Brief

In collaboration with ithink Dubai, Canon, and XDLab India, we produced an all sensory dining experience merging flavor, smell, sight, and sound. Guests went on a culinary journey as five courses of a gourmet dinner were served while enveloping projections over the table surface interacted with each dish. The project told the story of Kiana Sutra, which followed our primal connection to the five elements that formed the planet.

Approach

Collaborating with the management of DWTC and principle Chef, we created an experiential strategy that involved constructing the functional architectural elements required for the dinner as well as all original graphic content for the projections. We provided technical solutions for magical details such as levitating plates and objects that were a part of the show. The installation ran 7 days a week and turned on and off automatically. It was controlled through a tablet and during the experience, a waiter would activate various scenarios by interacting with the projections to reveal each new course.
